Release

VamoraOS: the first public build

This is VamoraOS Pre-Alpha build (Edgeon v0.1.0) The first ever public build

This Pre-Alpha build is not installable.

What's Included

Debian 13 (Trixie) base

VamoraOS builds on top of Debian Trixie, giving it a stable, well-supported foundation from day one.

Openbox (for now)

The window manager for this build. A stepping stone while Vamora's own desktop shell comes together.

Vamora StatusBar

Half working, fully visible. StartMenu, clock

Welcome screen

Greets you on first boot, so the very first thing you see actually feels like Vamora.

Vaminfo

Vamora's system fetch tool, built in Rust, ready to run from the terminal out of the box.

A few extra apps

Nautilus, Tilix, and Vim are along for the ride so the system is usable right after install.

What's New

Fixed the StatusBar so windows no longer maximize underneath it.

Fixed an autologin error that was blocking a clean first boot.

Added animations across the system for a smoother, more finished feel.

What's Next

This build is just the base. Here's what's coming as VamoraOS grows into its own desktop experience.

Vamora Dock

Althyn — the Homescreen / Desktop

Vamora Apps

Vamify

Thanks for trying it

This is the very first version of VamoraOS out in the wild, and we'd love to hear what you think — the good, the broken, and everything in between. Feedback now shapes where this goes next.

Found something broken? Open an issue on GitHub or drop it in Discord.
More builds are coming fast — this is just the start.
